If you are considering having your carpet or upholstery cleaned, you may have questions about the Philadelphia carpet cleaning industry. Is carpet cleaning Philadelphia regulated, and are there any standards that the Philadelphia carpet cleaning and the carpet cleaning industry must achieve? Well yes, there are a couple of different organizations. Two main organizations that are integral to the carpet cleaning industry are the IICRC, and the CRI.

One of the best-known carpet cleaning organizations is the IICRC. IICRC stands for the Institute of Inspection, Cleaning, and Restoration Certification. The IICRC was formed in 1972 to serve as an independent certification body. This nonprofit organization promotes high standards and ethics in the carpet cleaning industry. The IICRC helps ensure that you have access to trusted and trained cleaning professionals by establishing and monitoring certification programs and standards for the Inspection, Cleaning and Restoration industries. Find an IICRC certified cleaning professional for your carpet cleaning needs to be sure that they are properly trained, and that work will be completed in accordance with the industry’s “standard of care.”

Another organization of the carpet and rug cleaning industry is the CRI, or the Carpet and Rug Institute. The CRI is a science-based source for the facts about carpet and rugs and they sponsor research and educational programs to further the science behind the industry and to educate consumers on the carpet and rug industry. The CRI Seal of Approval Products are those in the carpet cleaning industry that have passed the quality tests of the CRI, and CRI guarantees them to be quality products.

As you can see, the carpet cleaning industry is more organized than you might think. Not every carpet cleaner is required to become IICRC certified, or to use CRI Seal of Approval Products. If you are in need of having your carpet cleaned, ask your Philadelphia carpet cleaning company if they are IICRC certified, and if they use products with the CRI Seal of Approval.
