What is Twitter? Twitter is a Social Networking site where you can converse with others about like interests online. Twitter can be likened to a Myspace or Facebook. these are just three of the more common social networking sites. Each site has it’s own demographics. Each site has it’s own uses as well as it’s own set of rules for use.

To understand twitter you must first understand the concept you simply make aquaintances through short messages and you always answer the question of what are you doing? Twitter is different from other social media sites the main difference being the form of communication. Twitter only allows 140 characters of communication at one time. so in reality all you can send at once is a message of 140 characters. Basically you are sending out text messages to your followers. They call these tweets. I know this all sounds very cute. Twitter has made a name for themselves very quickly as a leader in the Social Networking arena. There are many different ways to build a huge following within twitter.

I went to a seminar recently about social networking where one of the speakers had his laptop open and was conversing with his twitter following during the seminar. He was a guest speaker but in between the presentations of the speakers he was texting or tweeting if you will to his followers and explaining what was going on at the time. Do you think that is too high tech? Think again. All of the cell phone providers offer texting why because it’s popular. Well texting is one of the primary uses of twitter.

Once you learn the ropes you will be able to market your business and make contacts very quickly. This can be easily achieved by gathering a huge list of followers.
